TTS HUAHAI HATCH COVER REPAIRS
When the crew were operating the TTS Hua Hai multi-folding hatch cover, the No.3 cargo hold hatch cover unexpectedly developed a structural failure in the way of the hatch cover cylinder attachment structure. This caused severe damage to the hatch cover hydraulic cylinders, damage to the hatch cover rollers and hatch cover steel structure.
ALATAS was tasked with the Hatch Cover repairs, it required three skilled disciplines:
1. Field Service:
A skilled Field Service team attended the TTS Huahai Hatch cover on board the vessel to the remove the bent and jammed hydraulic cylinders and two sets of stuck hatch cover rollers without damaging the hatch covers any further.
2. Workshop Repairs:
The Hatch Cover Cylinders had severe damage, including a bent Piston Rod .They where sent ashore to be re-manufactured in our specialized hydraulic workshop.
3. Design and Fabrication:
The TTS Hua Hai hatch cover required new rollers. New rollers were designed by our Alatas Crane Design department, then fabricated, supplied and installed.
The final step was to test the hatch opening and closing operations several times in the presence of Class Surveyor. The Class Surveyor found all to be satisfactory and the Class approved the repairs performed by Alatas Singapore.
